AirPennNet WIRELESS

The wireless Internet network on campus is known as AirPennNet. AirPennNet provides fast, secure Internet access to all faculty, staff, and students. To prepare your laptop for Penn GSE, you will need to configure AirPennNet on it first.

Note: AirPennNet requires a PennKey to connect. If you have not setup your PennKey or cannot remember your password, please visit http://www.upenn.edu/computing/pennkey/.

Setting up AirPennNet on Campus

Connecting to AirPennNet is easy.

  1. Make sure you have installed and updated your Antivirus software. Penn provides free antivirus software for the Penn community.
  2. Be sure you have automatic updates setup for Windows or Mac OS.
  3. Connect to the AirPennNet-Help network, open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.), and follow the on-screen directions. If no help page appears, try entering an address in the address bar, such as www.gse.upenn.edu. www.google.com is not a good choice, since it redirects to https://www.google.com.

Setting up AirPennNet before You Arrive

You can also setup AirPennNet before you arrive on campus. After updating your antivirus and system software, visit http://airpennnet-help.net.isc.upenn.edu/ and follow the on-screen instructions.

Setting up AirPennNet for Mobile Devices

In order to use AirPennNet on your mobile or handheld device, you will need your PennKey username and password to configure your device to connect. Directions for basic configuration of mobile devices can be found at http://www.upenn.edu/computing/wireless/connected-overview.html.

Troubleshooting AirPennNet

If you get disconnected from AirPennNet and have difficulty reconnecting, switch to the AirPennNet-Help network and open your web browser to repair the connection.

AirPennNet Guest

Conference Codes

If a large number of people need short-term access to AirPennNet-Guest, such as conference attendees, a single conference code can be generated. This code can be used by a group of guests, who can then register themselves to use AirPennNet-Guest. GSE IT staff can generate conference codes for you if you provide us with the following information:

  • Event Title
  • Event Location
  • Access Start Date
  • Access Duration
  • Number of Attendees

In certain circumstances, you may be able to generate your own conference codes.  If you’d like to do so, please contact us to request access.

More information on how group codes work can be found here:
